I have to add...

The peonies in my garden burst open in the last 24 hours, and they are beautiful!

The plants were given to me three years ago by a friend, in an attempt to rescue her grandmother's treasures from a big bulldozer.

By the way, can you see the ants crawling over the bud, eating away the sticky sap, to allow the flower to open?

  1. I've heard the ants are necessary for the flower to survive. We had/ have huge pink and white petunias in Cincy. I miss seeing them in bloom.

You should float a few in a bowl of water, a la Nat.
